Sony VAIO T Series SVT13116FXS 13.3-Inch Ultrabook (Silver Mist) Reviews
7 of 10 people found the following review helpful Great Bang for the Buck but Loud Fan Noise, June 15, 2012 By DR in Arizona "azmogul" (Phoenix AZ) - See all my reviews This review is from: Sony VAIO T Series SVT13118FXS 13.3-Inch Ultrabook (Silver Mist) (Personal Computers) It is really fast!!!! Excellent mouse and keyboard ergonomics, very durable feel with aluminum case. Instant on and/or only a few seconds to boot up. It appears it is going to be a very durable road warrior with the best of the basic needs of a good all around better end machine. The graphics and sound are exceptionally good. My only complaints (why it didn't get five stars) are that it could use 3 usb ports instead of two, and a there is a very annoying and noticible fan noise much of the time. With a solid state drive and low energy processor, I am a little mistified that the fan should appear to be working so hard. All in all though, Sony has been able to combine quite a lot of value and features into this machine for the price.
Extremely pleased -- though it's early days., July 5, 2012 By This review is from: Sony VAIO T Series SVT13116FXS 13.3-Inch Ultrabook (Silver Mist) (Personal Computers) The T13 arrived a couple of hours ago -- one day ahead of Fed-Ex's promised arrival date. First impressions are positive. It is blazingly fast (I ordered the i7 Ivy Bridge processor and upgraded to 8GB of RAM, with a 500GB + 32MLC hybrid hard drive) when compared to my "old" Sony Vaio VPCY2 (with a first generation i3 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 500GD hard drive).
First of all, given one of the reviews below, let me address battery life. According to 'BatteryBar' (a useful free download), at 100% charge, the Sony T13, at idle, with full screen brightness but using the power saver option, will last 8 hours and 24 minutes. So in use, I'd expect at least six hours -- which is in line with the PC World magazine test.
Tbe T-13 feels extremely solid -- no flex if picked up by a corner. It feels as though it weighs a little more than the similarly-sized but more expensive VPCY2. It certainly has more visual 'presence' than the VPCY2 -- probably because the VPCY2 is... Read more
3 of 5 people found the following review helpful Good PC I like it, June 25, 2012 This review is from: Sony VAIO T Series SVT13118FXS 13.3-Inch Ultrabook (Silver Mist) (Personal Computers) This is about the highest end laptop I ever bought. I had HP, I had Dell, I had Toshiba, I had ACER, what a piece of junk that was. Yes only cost me $300, but its worthless. You get what you pay for. Eventually something will go wrong. So now, I owe a VAIO. It is fast, runs cool, everything it promises to be. Sure there will always something we wish the darn thing can do. Like, I will never use the VGA connector, It a waste of space and weight for me, but I am sure someone else probably think it is a must-have. Sure I can use an additional USB jack, then someone else might want two more. I wish it is metal all around, may be it can doubled as heatsink. If I was the designer. Who know how much weight that will add. I would like it where its memory is larger, who doesn't. I give it a 4 star. I think that is a fair rating for this machine.
